Our local leaders make our work possible. With their direction and support, we are able to co-create supportive spaces for those who live in Hamburgo & those who live in Tsirikbata.
Maria Jose Livingston Salazar
María is Costa Rican and from the province of Limón with a passion for helping others.
Maria is passionate about "working with the motivation of young people and people in need." In Maria's life she learned to "grow as a human being and be a better person, to maintain faith and coherence with myself, to serve as an example of life for others."
She loves to "dance, sing, write, compose". She is a "believer of faith and spirituality" as tools that support her on her life path.
Braulio Carillo Campos is a very humble and hardworking person with a large heart for his family and his work. In his 68+ years, he has engaged in construction projects, farm work, agriculture, mechanics, welding and many other aspects. For 5 years, he lived with the Indigenous community of Talamanca, ultimately gaining honorary titles within this community for his work there.
Braulio is passionate about sharing his experiences with others, with a clear message for the people. He wants to serve by “being an instrument” to others, believing that this is “the best way for the world to continue standing.” He wants “to help those who need it most”.
His hope in working with el Proyecto de Pococi is to teach others to plant for their own consumption, encourage a passion for helping others and getting people moving their bodies again. He hopes that people will learn to give and receive while changing the maladaptive habits that exist in local communities.

Our school initiatives are driven by the community and the current school board, which was defined by the Cabécar Tsirikbata community. These leaders are some of the voices of the Cabécar community. They speak up about what the community needs and take initiative in bettering their communities.
We have the honor of working with Mirian Reyes Matarrita & Jose Maria Vegas Gonsales at our project. They have opened their home and their land for us to begin our project, serving the surrounding community in Hamburgo, Cariari, Limon, Costa RIca.
Dona Mirian and Don Jose are co-creating the project with us and key leaders in our project.
